Noguchi bios and treatments generally make short shrift of his remarkable ability as a figurative artist. Although created as money-making commissions, Noguchi captured essence in these portraits and each 'feels' like a typical Noguchi sculpture, whatever that might be. They are fascinating for technique, material and as a sort of history of the artist himself.
