Reviews

This is truly a remarkable volume in presenting the Noguchi genius as a superb setting for world-class sculptors. The greatest sculptors of modern times grab our attention in his natural, breathtaking settings as though captured in a moment personal only to our self alone.I note again that Valerie J. Fletcher's description of his "United State's education" does nothing to dispel the dominant ignorance that he was like a foreign child attending a private boarding school. NOT SO. He grew up as a typical Hoosier teenager living with a local family in LaPorte, Indiana and graduated from its public High School. These little known years of the child becoming a young man shaped the spirit and the genius of this future world-famed artist. Noguchi's formidable Indiana experiences should be an explosive note in American Arts history. --Glenn Ralston
